What You've Always Wanted to Know About Wu-Yi Tea

by DAVID MIRANDA

Words like free "radicals," "toxins" and "antioxidants" fill news reports as concerns mount due to frightening statistics indicating a steady rise in the number of cases of cancer and other serious diseases and conditions, including obesity. Wu-yi tea, a specific variety of oolong tea that's grown in the mountains of China, is the latest addition to the list of hopeful alternatives to attract attention as a healthy way of losing weight and naturally protecting yourself from a host of ailments.

Wu-Yi Tea and Its Natural Health Benefits

Wu-yi tea is grown and harvested in northwest China in the Fujian Province, and like all types of oolong tea, comes from the camellia sinensis plant, however, it's the distinct process used to dry and ferment the tea leaves is what's said to give it the boost in antioxidants and polyphenols, which is what helps the body to burn fat.

Thanks to research conducted by some of the world's most brilliant scientists from Japan, China, the U.S., and Europe, we now know of the many natural ingredients present within authentic wu-yi tea and how they each have a beneficial affect on the body. Polyphenol is a substance naturally present within the tea that stimulates a process known as lipolysis, which in layman's terms, means the break down of fat.

How Wu-Yi Tea is Grown and Harvested

The intricate growing and harvesting processes necessary to produce authentic wu-yi tea is definitely time consuming, which is the reason this type of tea is more expensive than others. Any manufacturers that skip any of these crucial steps aren't producing wu-yi tea the way it was intended and aren't really creating genuine wu-yi tea.

Step One: Following centuries of ancient tradition, wu-yi tea leaves are picked in the early morning sun and then immediately set out to dry and age for a certain amount of time, which will actually depend upon the month of year and the positioning of the sun.

Step Two: After drying, tea leaves are carefully shaken into woven baskets crafted from bamboo, which is said to "tenderize" the edges of the leaf, and then laid out on woven drying mats for curing.

Step Three: After two to three days of curing, the leaves are brought indoors for the fermenting process, which is critical for ensuring the most delicious tea that will also be packed full of powerful antioxidants and fat-burning properties.

Step Four: Next, leaves are hand-rubbed, which stimulates the releases of the various beneficial chemicals and enzymes and also enhances the tea's flavor. Sorting and careful checking for quality are done before the process is complete.

Step Five: You, the consumer, drink the tea at least twice a day, enjoying natural weight loss qualities and the additional positive benefits of wu-yi tea.

There are actually many different varieties of wu-yi tea, including wu-yi jin mei, a member of the oolong or wu long category, but with so many to choose from, how is it possible to decide which is best for your needs and your tastes? While taste is merely a matter of personal preference, using authentic wu-yi tea is what really matters most. The level of polyphenols and antioxidants are significantly higher in wu-yi tea, making it the ideal addition to any sensible weight loss plan or health care regimen.

If you're interested in the positive health benefits of wu-yi tea, you may find the following site documenting a real case study of wu-yi tea and weight loss of benefit, http://www.wuyitearesults.com/ Further information at Authentic Wu-Yi Tea will also prove as a beneficial resource and guide.

Stress: Symptoms of a Workplace Killer

by Shirley Anderson

Stress in the workplace is a real and palpable thing. Most people experience it periodically throughout the span of their careers, but some have problems coping, or fall into a stressful rut they can’t see their way out of. This can be due to missing the signs meant to alert that their sense of calm is being compromised longer, or in a more extreme way than the mind and body can comfortably handle. It is important to deal with work stress as soon as it makes it presence known in order to avoid debilitating repercussions.

The following list is by no means complete as stress affects everyone differently, but is a compilation of the most common symptoms.

1. Loss of the ability to concentrate. Focusing on tasks becomes difficult because your mind is stuck on problems, missed deadlines, performance fears, etc. Stress has already begun to affect life at this stage.

2. Insomnia or loss of ability to sleep through the night. Other sleep disorders such as nightmares and sleep walking may also arise. The result is an exhausted and frazzled system. A healthy mind and body connection starts to deteriorate if the introduction of stress management techniques are not employed.

3. Running against the clock. There is a constant feeling of not having enough time to get everything done.Usually, at this point, a person suffering from work strain can’t or won’t take the time to evaluate and deal with the problem, and the stress escalates.

4. Anxiety, which can happen in sporadic attacks, or become chronic.

5. Depression, usually accompanied by a sense of helplessness regarding their situation. This is essentially a white flag of surrender, and the stressed worker is unable to see a way out of the pressure cooker.

6. Substance abuse is a fairly common symptom as people desperately seek a means of stress relief for their minds and body. Without the intervention of dealing with the core stressors, this can become a lifetime norm.

7. Anger and frustration in explosive bouts, or which is uncharacteristic, may be signalling overload.

8. Onset of physical symptoms, which can become chronic without stress reduction, or if they are left untreated for too long. Headaches, stomach and back problems, and heart conditions are common ailments arising from too much or prolonged work stress.

9. Avoidance of stressors in the form of absenteeism.

10. The final symptom is burnout. It is the breaking point on all levels – mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional – and usually results in a stress leave from work. This is the critical stage of work stress and cannot be ignored.

If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, please see your doctor and get help as soon as possible. Stress affects not only you, but your relationships, your marriage, your children. If you can’t learn stress management for yourself, please do it for your loved ones.

How to Rid Yourself of a Cold and Strengthen Your Immune System

By Author: Jack

Growing up it seemed that no matter what was wrong with my brother and I, my mom always had something with a nasty taste or smell that would heal any cuts and scrapes and I swear if I came home with plague she would have made some kind of bubbling potion that would cure it.

Tea with Lemon:
The first thing they will tell you to do when you get a cold is to drink tea with lemon. This will usually relieve some of the symptoms and give you temporary relief. The reason this works is simple. The hot water from the tea helps open up your repertory system, and the lemon is full of vitamin C which is good for your immune system. Taking vitamin C everyday can help you avoid cold before they start.

Garlic:
Back in the day my mom would give my brother and I garlic soup. The soup has antiseptic properties, the oil in the soup help open the repertory system and it helps reduce fever in the body, and by adding some onion juice to the soup you can help flush unwanted toxins from the body, but be prepared because you will sweat them out.

Reduce a Fever:
It is not uncommon for someone with a cold to have a fever. A good way to reduce the fever is with Ginger. When cut up and boiled in water ginger has been found to lower a fever in a matter of hours. A less bitter way is to put a small piece of ginger into a glass then pour boiling water in the glass, after letting it sit for 2 or 3 minutes put a tea bag in the glass and add some sugar. This method is less effective but tastes much better.

Okra:
Okra is a green vegetable, that kind of looks like a cross of a pepper and zucchini. The vegetable is filled with Mucilage, which is great for soothing sore throats. Cut about 10 grams of Okra and boil them in about 1 liter of water. After the water boils you can inhale the steam and drink the water. The water will look oily. This oil is what sooths your sore throat.

Tamarind and Pepper:
A great way to relieve a stuffed up nose is Tamarind and Pepper soup. The soup is made by adding 50 mg or Tamarind into a pot with 1 cup of water. Bring it to a boil then add one teaspoon of hot ghee and half a teaspoon of black pepper. You should have 1 cup of this soup 3 times a day. After drinking you will fell your nose start to run and your eyes will water, but within minutes your sinuses will be cleared out.

Bitter Gourd Roots:
Many of my mom's remedies are for relieving the symptoms of the cold like a fever or a sore throat but this one is for clearing up the actual cold itself. A past of the gourd is used with honey with a 1 to 1 mixture. A teaspoon of the mixture is taken at night for a month. This will remove the cold germs and help strengthen the immune system.

Turmeric:
Turmeric is a cure all. It not only relieves the symptoms of the cold like runny nose and sore throat, it also helps kill the cold germs and strengthen the immune system all at once. The turmeric is bought as a powder. Add half a teaspoon is added to a cup of milk them boiled. The steam should be inhaled while it is boiling then poured into a glass, allowed to cool slightly then drink twice a day. Your nose will start to run much more then before but in a day you will feel much better.

These are just a small example of all the home remedies that are out there. I have personally tried several of these methods, and can vouch for their effectiveness.

Vitamin Supplements for Macular Degeneration Prevent Visual Impairment

By: Paul Schechter

Macular degeneration affects central vision, and some sufferers can no longer read books, write out checks, find phone numbers in a directory, watch television, or see the facial expressions of their loved ones. Simple tasks become impossible and frustration is common. Patients may feel alone because no one they know can relate to macular degeneration's devastating effects. Not even a new prescription for glasses can restore the individual's poor eyesight. Many age-related macular degeneration patients fear that they will go to sleep and wake up to nothing but complete darkness.

What Is Macular Degeneration?
Macular degeneration is a debilitating eye disease affecting the elderly. Within the eye is the macula, an area that allows people to see fine details and colors. Macular degeneration prevents the macula from properly functioning and the vision becomes blurred. The most distinguishing aspect of this eye disease is that round spots cover the sufferer's field of vision so that it is difficult to see things that are straight ahead. Fine details are impossible to see, but the person's peripheral vision is unchanged.

There are two types of age-related macular degeneration: dry and wet. Dry age-related macular degeneration is the result of fatty tissues called drusen building up beneath the retina. Wet macular degeneration is caused by abnormal blood vessels forming in the eye. Up to 90 percent of people diagnosed with macular degeneration have the dry form.

Ways to Prevent Macular Degeneration
Doctors say that there is no way to undo the harm that this eye disease has caused to the macula, but there are a few things that may lower your risks. These include quitting smoking, losing weight, eating a healthy diet, and taking a vitamin supplement for macular degeneration. Also, if you have a history of macular degeneration in your family, you are at a higher risk for developing the disease. You will need to see an eye specialist frequently for preventative care.

Take Your Vitamins
Doctors agree that nothing will reverse the damage caused by age-related macular degeneration, but studies have revealed interesting data in regards to this eye disease. Yellow and green vegetables help prevent age-related macular degeneration. Vegetables like squash, corn, broccoli, and spinach contain a variety of nutrients and antioxidants including lutein and zeaxanthin, two carotenoids. These vitamins and minerals may actually prevent macular degeneration in some people.

Doctors suggest that people choose a vitamin supplement for macular degeneration like VisiVite i-Defense Gold Formula that contains lutein, zeaxanthin, zinc, vitamin C, vitamin E, and beta-carotene. In fact, some retina specialists believe that this combination of vitamins and minerals are of benefit to people who are already suffering from macular degeneration in one eye. VisiVite i-Defense Gold Formula may actually slow the drusen forming in the macula and prevent the eye disease from forming in the other eye.

Keep Those Eye Doctor Appointments
One important aspect of senior eye health is to see your eye doctor often. You may already have age-related macular degeneration, but not be exhibiting symptoms. A retina specialist can determine if you have any eye diseases during an exam when your eyes are fully dilated.

Expect to have a dilated eye exam every few years or more often if you already have an eye disease. You may also need more frequent eye exams if you are overweight, are a smoker, or have a history of age-related macular degeneration in your family. All of these factors contribute to a higher incidence of this eye disease.

Learn to Adapt with Low Vision Aids
Being diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration can be quite frightening. The important thing is to ask your retina specialist the right questions so that you know what to expect and how to properly cope with this eye disease. Your eye doctor can direct you on some important things that may help you manage your condition.

For instance, you might invest in some special lighting that can prevent glare. Optical devices and magnifiers are available for you to see things better close up, but you might have to shop around to find the best one to suit your individual needs. Large print books may enable you to continue with a cherished pastime - reading! Reading machines have given many people with macular degeneration the ability to cope with this eye disease by reading aloud information to users.

Final Thoughts
If you are diagnosed with a retinal disease like macular degeneration, it is very important that you realize you are not alone. You don't need to suffer in silence. Your eye doctor may have suggestions to help you adapt to the issues that age-related macular degeneration causes. Scientific evidence has shown that everyone with this disease should take a vitamin supplement for macular degeneration like VisiVite i-Defense Gold Formula to try and prevent your blurred vision from worsening and possibly improve vision. Also, there are many different low vision aids, magnifiers and optical devices, and other resources available for the visually impaired. Please remember that it is important that you see your retina specialist often, especially if your eyesight is worsening or if you suspect a problem.

Athletes are Prone to Dermatological Irritation: What Can Be Done?

by: Tom Maroney

When one thinks of the injuries sustained by baseball players, skin irritation is not necessarily the malady that jumps to mind. But for Josh Beckett, ace pitcher of the Boston Red Sox, it is exactly those sorts of concerns that have proven most debilitating over the years: Beckett has suffered from blisters on the fingers of his pitching hand that have landed him on the disabled list an astonishing six times since 2000.

That is a painful problem. It is an expensive problem. And it is a problem that can curtail seasons; it can derail careers; it can mean the difference between playing and not playing, winning and losing.

In Search of Topical Pain Relief

And it’s not limited to Beckett, pitchers, or even baseball players. Athletes of all stripes risk injury due to blisters, abrasions, eczema, cuts...all dermatological concerns that demand topical pain relief. And, it doesn’t end there: Those who participate in outdoor sports—tennis, sailing, skiing, and so on—frequently suffer from sunburn. Those who sweat a lot in workouts or competition such as basketball players, gymnasts, and runners have to deal with chafing. It especially helps runners to prevent blisters, abrasions, and also expedites in healing. These are recurring problems that demand chronic pain management. Yet, many athletes downplay these concerns, oftentimes because such injuries are not considered severe. Hey, it’s not a broken bone or a torn hamstring, so how bad can it be? It can be bad enough to cause an athlete to lose a step, or to favor a certain leg, arm or muscle group. It can also be bad enough to lead to more severe injuries. Just ask Josh Beckett.

As such, athletes aiming to remain in top form should seek to treat their dermatological concerns via natural health remedies. Indeed, natural pain relief is the optimum method for keeping an athlete’s skin healthy and hydrated. In fact, the importance of hydration itself cannot be overstated. Of course, the simplest and most effective method for staying hydrated is to simply drink water. And for athletes, who lose a great deal of fluids through sweating, water should be consumed frequently. In fact, it’s said that even 2 percent dehydration decreases an athlete’s performance by as much as 10 percent. Adequate hydration is crucial in keeping one’s skin healthy.

For athletes already suffering from blisters, abrasions or the like, simple powders and ointments such as Johnson’s Baby Powder or Gold Bond Medicated Ant-Itch Cream can be purchased inexpensively, and can provide tremendous relief. Even petroleum jelly can be applied to cuts or chafed areas to provide immediate topical pain relief.

For athletes suffering from dermatological issues, chronic pain management can truly be that basic. Again, let’s take the example of Josh Beckett: The Red Sox hurler addressed his blisters issue with…surgery? Laser treatment? Nope. He used Band-Aids.

Which doesn’t mean that Band-Aids or baby powder are the only methods for treatment, or even the most effective ones (it should be noted that Beckett’s Band-Aid solution prevented him from throwing his curveball during bullpen sessions, and his on-field performance suffered as a result).

Advanced Natural Pain Relief

For athletes looking for more advanced natural pain relief, XTreme Skin Ointment (http://www.xtremeskin.com) offers a wide range of healing capabilities: It creates a breathable, protective barrier for the skin; it locks out germs and bacteria, and locks in moisture; and it accelerates the skin’s healing process. Natural health remedies like XTreme Skin Ointment can (and should) be used as a preventative measure, but they can also be applied to damaged areas.

It must be stated that no athlete is immune to dermatological issues: Bowlers will often suffer from blisters and cuts; rock climbers, from cracked skin and burns; horseback riders, from chafing; swimmers, from dry skin; weightlifters, from calluses. And, too many athletes will try and play through these problems when they should be seeking out chronic pain management techniques and natural pain relief.

An athlete’s skin is as related to his or performance as his or her muscles, yet too few recognize this. It is crucial that athletes seek out topical pain relief, and it is recommended that they do so through natural health remedies. To ignore them, or to treat them ineffectively, can spell damage, disaster and heartbreak. Just ask Josh Beckett.

Live Healthier With Your Diabetes

Diabetes is a common illness that can affect men and women, boys and girls, right around the world. For centuries, diabetes was regarded as one of a dreaded disease, but modern medicine allows patients to live full, vital lives in spite of the condition.

If you want to control your diabetes and keep it from controlling you, the first step is to learn as much as you can about the disease. Once diagnosed, it's your responsibility to seek out as much information as you can from trusted resources, and educate yourself to the best of your ability.

Having diabetes means staying in close contact with your doctor. You need to see him or her regularly to ensure that your current treatment regime is being properly administered, and is working effectively. Diabetes can cause physical and neurological deterioration in other areas of the body, so it is important to have regular physical checkups to rule out other possible complications.

Performing a regular glucose level check is the best way to control diabetes. Your clinic nurse or doctor will explain how often you should perform these tests. Follow the schedule as closely as possible, and be sure to take all of your medications as prescribed.

There is a definite correlation between a healthy lifestyle and a successful existence with diabetes. Proper exercise and a healthy diet are very important factors in controlling diabetes. Work with your doctor to set out a dietary plan that you can live with, and do your best to follow it, especially during the early stages of your treatment regime. You can perform your own dietary investigations, but under no circumstances should you abandon your doctor's advice. Monitor your activities and your food choices, and note any increases or decreases in your glucose levels. Discuss these changes with your doctor.

As with many illnesses, you'll find good advice and bad advice. There are conflicting opinions in several areas of diabetes control and treatment. One such area that's under great debate is the effect of fats and carbohydrates on diabetes. Even doctors are divided into several different areas of thought. There are only theories at this point, and no medical or scientific evidence on the effects of carbs and fats in the diabetic diet. Go ahead and read what you can about these theories, but continue to follow the advice of your doctor. Use the guidelines you've been given and explore alternatives with caution. Any dietary experimentation must be done on the advice of a medical professional.

If you suffer from diabetes, restrict or avoid your alcohol intake. Alcohol is known to aggravate the illness, so try to limit it to small amounts with meals. If you suffer with Type 2 diabetes, try to avoid alcohol altogether, as it can have adverse reactions with taken with many Type 2 diabetes prescription medications.

High stress levels will also make diabetes worse. Try introducing relaxation techniques into your everyday routine to increase your overall well being. Stress increases many different hormone levels in your body, including adrenaline. The hormone adrenaline prepares the body for fight or flight, and an important part of these preparations is the release of glucose from the muscles and liver. This glucose is used as immediate energy. What your body cannot understand is that modern day stress levels are not usually induced by a physical threat, so these high levels of glucose are not required. As a result, high stress plays havoc with glucose levels and can make it almost impossible to control diabetes. For this reason, it's essential that people with diabetes learn how to relax and reduce the stress in their daily lives.

The most direct way to control your diabetes is by controlling your diet. Understand which foods affect your condition, and be in control of what you eat. You may feel as though you're making sacrifices, but your good health is definitely worth the effort. There are many ways to prepare delicious foods that fit in with your diabetes lifestyle. See the website cldia.allrecipes.com for main courses, beverages, appetizers, and desserts that you can enjoy, guilt-free.

Taking steps to control your diabetes can be as easy as making a few lifestyle changes. Eat right, keep your stress levels down, and follow your doctor's advice. Your body, mind and spirit will all be better for it.

By: Alice Campbell

It is extremely difficult to buy gifts for people, regardless if you know them very well or if they are merely acquaintances. You have to concern what type of product they are using and if they will appreciate your gift. For change, why not give organic gifts or natural products? They are surely not a common choice when it comes to gift choices, but organic gifts or natural products are certainly the top option when it comes to useful and environmentally-friendly gifts.

As the name suggest, organic gifts or natural products are products made entirely from natural materials and ingredients, most of them readily available in one’s surroundings. These organic gifts or natural products include organic flowers, beddings, baby clothes, as well as fruit baskets and food such as chocolates and cookies. These products are very popular, mainly because they are very reasonably priced, especially when compared to more mainstream products. However, besides the price, there are also a number of reasons why one should give organic gifts and natural products.

For one, organic gifts and natural products are safe not just on the environment but on the user as well. This is especially true when the products are edibles or clothing items. A number of mainstream products are undeniably well-made. However, their materials are not decided based on their effects on consumers or users, as well as its overall effect on the environment. The problem is that there is little scientific evidence that these things really work, other than making us think that we are doing something healthy. The massive diet and nutrition industries have created yet another myth, the Detox Myth, encouraging us to spend money on pills, treatments, spa breaks, books etc, but the benefits of the products are questionable, and the claims are not supported by science. The result is a gradual build up in toxin levels in the body and this can cause a wide variety of health problems including chronic fatigue acne headaches nausea and even chronic ailments which do not respond to conventional medicine. Learn more at http://www.superstars-detoxdiets.info This epic human tragedy led the Soviet society on a desperate search for ways to detoxify and protect their people from radiation poisoning. But it's a nice introduction to the issue and one you'll need to be aware of as you procede with your own personal herbal remedy learning.

The Stomach Flu - Signs, Symptoms and Treatment

By: Roger Hutchison

Viral gastroenteritis, also known as "the stomach flu", is a very common infection of the stomach and intestines. It is the second most common illness encountered in American families and causes approximately 50,000 hospitalizations per year. Viruses that are transferred from infected food to person and passed from person to person via contaminated silverware, food and water cause it. These viruses can be very contagious and "outbreaks" may occur if appropriate hand washing and sterilization does not occur in public facilities. Outbreaks of viral gastroenteritis are common in schools, hospitals, long-term care facilities, jails, dormitories, and cruise ships.

The viruses which cause gastroenteritis are rotavirus, norovirus, adenovirus, saporvirus and astrovirus. Rotavirus is the most common virus implicated in this illness. It causes endemic gastroenteritis in infants and children. Norovirus (Norwalk virus) causes ninety percent of outbreaks of gastroenteritis in the U.S. Although "the stomach flu" implies the influenza virus is associated with this infection, it is not.

Viral gastroenteritis is characterized by intense muscle aches, cramps and chills which precede nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting and/or diarrhea. Vomiting and diarrhea usually temporarily relieve the nausea and pain. The vomit and diarrhea are usually non-bloody and the stool may lighten in color. People often feel fatigued and dehydrated because of the energy involved with clearing the infection from the body and losing fluid via vomiting and diarrhea. The symptoms begin 1-2 days after becoming infected with the virus and last 1-10 days, depending on which virus is involved.

The treatment of viral gastroenteritis includes rest, analgesics and re-hydration. Tylenol may be used to treat fever and muscle cramps. The replenishment of fluids with water, electrolyte drinks or oral rehydration solutions (sugar and electrolytes) is essential to prevent dehydration. When replacing fluids, it is important to replace volume and electrolytes such as sodium, chloride, hydrogen and potassium. Water as hydration helps replace volume, but if too much is given without replacement of electrolytes, the relative concentration of these important ions decreases and metabolic/electrolyte imbalances occur in the body. Re-hydration should occur with electrolyte drinks to protect against hyponatremia. Most quality sports drinks will fill this requirement.

One should drink enough fluid to keep their mouth moist and their urine light yellow to clear. As the diarrhea and/or vomiting subsides, one may slowly introduce soft foods into the diet. Soft foods are jello, saltine crackers, pudding, rice, bread and soups without meats. It is important to watch for abdominal cramping, retching or liquid stools while trying to resume a normal diet, these symptoms could indicate the intestines are still inflamed from the infection and need more time to heal.

Adequate hydration is especially important in people who are young (infants), elderly, frail and immunocompromised, their bodies are already stressed and gastroenteritis can take a huge toll on the body. These people are usually either dependent on others for fluid and food or have difficulty maintaining healthy nutrition. Vomiting and diarrhea may further deplete their bodies of already limited water and energy stores.

If dehydration occurs, the body's normal fluid balance is disturbed and potentially serious electrolyte (sodium, potassium, hydrogen, bicarbonate, and chloride) abnormalities can occur. When electrolyte abnormalities are severe and prolonged, the function of the nervous, cardiovascular, pulmonary and renal systems is compromised. Dehydration is characterized by fatigue, dry mouth, decreased urination, loose skin and lightheadedness (especially when changing from the laying to standing positions).

Although one may be tempted to use anti-diarrheal (Imodium) and anti-vomiting (Phenergan) medications, these types of medications are not recommended during this illness. Vomiting and diarrhea are the body's way of getting rid of the virus, and even though these symptoms are distressing and uncomfortable, it is important to allow the body's natural defense mechanism to function. The exception to this rule occurs when someone cannot hold down fluids and is dehydrated; the use of an anti-diarrheal medication can help the body restore its fluid balance.

Viral gastroenteritis can be prevented by thorough hand washing after eating and using the bathroom and wiping surfaces that have come in contact with infected food with disinfectant cleaners. Eating a balanced diet and taking supplements which boost the immune system can also prevent one from getting viral gastroenteritis.

How To Induce Your Labor

By: Gen Mason

So you are nine months pregnant, you’re excited and can't wait for the day to come. You wait and you wait and you wait, still nothing. There are few things as frustrating as this, I know from personal experience! There are many little things that you can do to try and speed up your time. Of course this should only be done after consulting your doctor and when you are already in your ninth month of pregnancy. Getting labor over with is all fine and good but not at the expense of the baby’s health!

Here are safe ways to induce labor and finally have that baby:

Walking

Many women walk, A LOT. Walking stimulates the muscles in your uterus and may stimulate contractions.

Tea with Thyme

It has been said that tea wit thyme has induced labor for many women.

Scalini’s Restaurant

This restaurant is in Georgia. Three hundred women in the past 23 years have gone into labor within 48 hours after eating their eggplant parmegiana. It is said that it is not actually the eggplant that induces labor, but the seasonings added to the dinner. Basil and Oregano are said to contain herbs that supposedly can stimulate labor contractions.

Primrose oil

This is another natural product that is said to start contractions.

Castor Oil

This oil is said to cause contractions because it causes diarrhea. The cramps from the diarrhea are said to start cramps in your uterus, which starts labor.

Acupuncture

This is sometimes used to induce labor by placing acupuncture needles on the inner calf and between the thumb and forefinger. You can also rub these 2 areas for 30 seconds each and that is supposed to induce labor.

Doctor Stripping Membranes

The doctor can strip your membranes by inserting 2 fingers into the woman’s uterus and moving them from side to side, pulling the membranes away from the cervix wall.

Sex

It is said that sex can start contractions, by the penis thinning the uterus and preparing it to open.

Black cohosh and blue cohosh

These are said to stimulate the start of contractions.

Raspberry Leaf Tea

This method was used by the Native Americans and is still sometimes used by midwives on their patients. The concept of it is based on all the others; it stimulates contractions.

Nipple Stimulation

This odd method causes oxytocin, which in turn makes your uterus contract.

Cinnamon Sticks

Boil cinnamon sticks in with your tea and drink it, yummy and effective.

Relaxation exercises

Relaxation exercises have been known to relax the woman into a state for labor to start. You can find a variety of relaxation exercises online.

It should be noted (again) that none of these ways should be used unless the pregnant woman is near her due date. More than likely they will not work anyway unless the baby is ready to be born. You can give nature a little nudge but not likely a giant push, which you would not want to do anyways.

If you are in your ninth month, tired of being huge and just too excited that you cannot wait, these are excellent ways to try to start you labor.

Truly Customized Nutritional Care

By: David Galn

The vitamin and supplement market is a billion dollar business. Everyone wants to be healthy, but buying handfuls of capsules isn’t always the best way to go. Using the guessing method and hoping you hit the bullseye may get you where you need to be, but you are probably going to spend ten times more money and create very costly urine because your body is going to get rid of what you do not need no matter how much you take.

What DOES work is a very personalized and specialized approach. Everybody’s DNA is different. We have our very own gene map that dictates every aspect of our being and delegates precisely what we need to maintain optimum health. The regimen of pills that works for one person may not work for someone else, in fact, probably won’t. Just like yours won’t work for your partner, children, or grandparents. Even being from the same gene pool does not give you the exact same blueprint for life.

There is only one true way to determine what your body needs, and now it is actually possible to get that through DNA testing that reveals your body’s requirements for success. If it sounds complex, well it is. DNA results are complicated to read, but that is the job of the well-trained team of scientists at the lab. The process for the applicant is as easy as pie. All that is required is purchasing a DNA lab kit. A simple swab of the inner check sent back to them will provide them what they need to run a complete DNA test and assess the perfect prescription for health and well-being.

With that assessment complete it is then possible to order the exact dosage in a simple to use pill that can either be swallowed as is, or broken and mixed in a liquid for ease of intake. This is truly the best of health care. No more taking a hand full of pills to try and cover all the bases knowing most of it will be wasted. Now everybody that desires to be healthy and fit the smart way can get it all, in an easy to take formula designed especially for them and their particular individual genetic makeup.

This is a scientific\medical breakthrough that will make living better and healthy the only way to go.

Reduce Belly Fat, Rid Yourself Today

By: Thomas Lauer

Belly fat rid strategies are all over the place. You can't stay away from all the magazine covers, commercials and internet ads. All those people with great looking stomachs and butts. Trust me, they did not get them from just doing sit ups.

To lose belly fat you must adjust your daily calorie intake. You must do some form of aerobic exercise. All of it amounts to a certain amount of life style change. That is just a fact of life. When you adjust your daily routine, you will get a different result. This goes for negative changes also.

That, my friends is why it is so hard for so many to lose those love handles and such. It really is all in the mind. If you can discipline yourself to make one small change in your life just for a couple weeks, you will see and feel results.

I am not talking dramatic change. If you did that you would go back to your old routine in no time. Don't start out by reducing your calories in half and jogging three miles a day. That is what I mean by dramatic. That is what they do in Marine boot camp. They can stick to it though because they have some really hard core drill instructors over seeing every little move.

We do not have that luxury, so we have to do baby steps so we mentally adjust.

The first thing you want to do is pick a time of the day that you can set aside forty minutes. Every day at this exact time put your coat on, go outside and walk for forty minutes....Anywhere. Personally I prefer the park. When it is winter, I walk/jog on back streets of neighborhoods. Do This every day, no exceptions.

The second thing you have to do is reduce your food intake. This is harder than the first set of rules. I am not much into calorie counting. It is boring and who has the time. Breakfast, lunch and supper......fix your plate and then take off one quarter of it and put it back.

If you drink beer, take your average per night and do not drink one quarter of them.

You see, all you are doing here is modifying your life style a little. If you do exactly what I told you here, you will be very happy with the results in a couple weeks. A little hint on the exercise. If you do this in the evening, it reduces the urge to snack and drink.

Good luck and get Going...it is all mental!!

The Real Cause of Ovarian Cysts

By: Andrew Bailey

As the first step of correctly diagnosing and treating ovarian cysts is to locate the cause of the disease, it is essential to understand the possible causes of ovarian cysts. However, there is no single cause of ovarian cysts.

Ovarian cyst can be triggered by a variety of primary factors and secondary factors. It is imperative to understand these different factors in order to seek appropriate treatment.

Primary factors of ovarian cysts:

There are many primary factors, which lead to ovarian cysts. These factors should not be isolated however, as sometimes the combination of these factors can together lead to the causes of ovarian cysts.

1.Genetic predisposition: Genetic predisposition is often considered to be the primary cause of ovarian cyst as research has shown that the genetic pattern of women who suffer from this chronic condition is different as compared to women who never get ovarian cysts or PCOS. However, this should not be a death warrant as many times the genetic characteristics can be modified with the help of environmental factors and proper lifestyle related changes.

2.Poor dietary choices: Different types of food including the ones rich in carbohydrates, junk food toxic food and acidic food can bring about hormonal imbalance and can weaken your immune system making you more vulnerable to ovarian cyst. Similarly diet rich in sugar and low on fresh vegetables can make the task of flushing out toxins difficult thereby aggravating ovarian cyst problem.

3.Weak immune system: A weak immune system invites trouble, as it is not able to put up a natural fight against ovarian cyst triggers. Many factors including dietary factors and sleep deprivation can lead to weakened immune system.

4.Insulin resistance: High level of insulin can stimulate ovarian androgen production, which leads to the production of male hormones. This reduces the serum sex-hormone binding globulin or SHGB. The SHBG can in turn aggravate the ovarian cyst condition to quite an extent.

5.Failed ovulation process: Sometimes, the ovaries fail to release egg on a monthly basis. This fails to produce progesterone and brings about hormonal imbalance. This can then lead to the formation of ovarian cysts.

Besides the above primary factors, toxins in liver and even environmental toxins can aggravate ovarian cysts. Hence, ovarian cyst condition is not a simple one to understand or treat. Conventional wisdom blinded by hackneyed forms of treatment cannot treat and cure ovarian cysts.

To treat this complex disease, a multidimensional view adopted by the holistic approach is needed. Holistic approach is also effective as it deals with a variety of factors and manages to find out the root cause of the disease. Then, systematically with a comprehensive method, the practitioner can help you bring about many lifestyle changes, which can aid in treatment.

Hence, when it comes to curing ovarian cyst, a holistic approach is required to understand the causes of ovarian cysts and to treat this condition in a scientific and holistic manner.

The Secret Formula For A Healthy Anti-Aging Diet!

By: PL Fields

When we are young, we show the signs of great health: bright eyes, bright skin, and smooth hair. As we get older, time takes a price . Now with pollution, pesticides in our food, living in all kinds of toxins daily this process is expedited. Free radicals are established. These are tiny unpaired electrons (I’ll spare you the scientific talk) and they basically go seeking a partner and cause turmoil in the process.

Free radicals are helpful when they are in normal levels , but with all the pollution and stress our bodies are in, they can get out of control!

Antioxidants encourage to keep these free radicals under control. You can discover them in blueberries, red wine, coffee, berries and nuts..just to name a few . But you can’t go around stuffing your face with these things, that is why eating moderate proportions and supplementing is the way to go. I’m not talking about diet pills, I’m talking about vitamins.

On the flip side, your diet could be accelerating your aging if you are eating sugar, refined flour, hydrogenated oils, soda and alcohol.

Of course, you may be consuming foods that are already behaving as antioxidants. Good Old Vitamin C is a H20 soluble vitamin, which means you need to take it daily because you can pee it out. When you are taking antibiotics, aspirin, oral contraceptives, or smoking they interfere with the absorption of it…which means you must take more of it and take it during times you aren’t beginning to take your other medications. Honestly, I would say that you should try to get away from any medications you are consuming, but that is another newsletter. Medications will always have an unhealthy side effect…so be cautious!

400-1,000mg of the Vitamin C is usually good. I take the powdered form and mix it with H20. I usually like the brands found in health food supermarkets because they are always better quality then those found in drug stores or grocery stores. A therapeutic dosage would be 1,000mg to 10,000mg with should be used under supervision; however, if you are a drinker, smoker, live in hightly polluted city, or take medication, I would take at least 1,000mg per day!

Here are a few other sources of antioxidants: garlic, green tea (however, watch the caffeine intake), lutein, selenium, turmeric (a yellow spice), and zinc.

Brainwave Entrainment" Can Help You Dramatically Improve Your Mental Abilities!

by: Sonika Gandotra

I am a great fan of Stephen Pierce and recently I came across his website in which he talked about Brainwave Entertainment. I think it will be worth while to disseminate such a crucial piece of information with people who are interested in good health.

I have just taken the few facts from this website in this article for everybody's benefit:

Recently, professionals in the areas of psychology, neurology, medical health and self-help have begun utilizing the power of brainwave entrainment in their work with patients.

What is brainwave entrainment? It is a relatively young but rapidly growing field that involves the study of how altering brainwaves naturally can allow people to easily enter states of increased intelligence, creativity, relaxation, pure energy and more!

Here’s the science behind this incredible breakthrough: The brain is made up of billions of brain cells called neurons, which communicate with each other using electrical signals.

All of these neurons sending signals at once produce a large amount of electrical activity commonly called a Brainwave pattern, because of its “wave” or cyclic-like nature.

Researchers and scientists have found that different bands of brainwaves are associated with different mental states. For instance, the brainwaves of a sleeping person are much different than the brainwaves of an individual who is wide awake.

Years of research has shown that brainwaves not only provide insight into an individual’s mind and body, but they can be stimulated to actually change that person’s current state.

By causing the brain to produce or decrease specific types of brainwave frequencies, it is possible to bring about a large variety of mental states and emotional reactions.

How does this work? “Entrainment” is a principle in physics, where two cycles synchronize naturally with each other in order to work more efficiently. Entrainment is applied to chemistry, astronomy, electrical systems and much more – but can also be applied to the brain.

When the brain is provided with a stimulus, through the ears, eyes or other senses, it emits an electrical charge in response. This is called a Cortical Evoked Response. These electrical responses travel throughout the brain to become what an individual sees and hears.

When the brain is given a consistent, repeating stimulus, such as drum beats or flashes of light, the brain responds by synchronizing, or entraining, its electric cycles to the external rhythm. This is commonly called the Frequency Following Response (or FFR), and it can be used to effectively alter the brainwave pattern of the audience.

This I personally realised after listening to the scientifically proven Beta Brainwave Entertainment to understand that we have an all access pass to the high performance peak state that our world’s greatest achievers know intimately.

The EEG visual shown at the beginning of this article was taken while observing the effects of Beta Brainwave Entertainment on an independent listener. This visual reading not only proves that Beta Brainwave Entertainment works, but powerfully demonstrates how quickly your mind can be optimized and your cerebral functioning accelerated.

The Baseline (left-side) illustrates the listener’s brainwave activity prior to listening to Brainwaves. The Beta Increase (right-side) shows the considerable increase in beta activity after just 20 minutes of listening to Beta waves.

Brainwave research on cognitive performance has pointed to the mid Beta brainwave frequencies as the zone to create a super focus mental state, intellectual endurance, and optimize your brain to handle intensive task with high levels of mental stamina.

As you listen to your brainwaves will be entrained into the Beta brainwave zone and have you mentally fine tuned for success.

If you have ever dreamed of realizing your full potential and receiving all the benefits that will help you to quickly and easily unleash your mental powers and achieve your dreams. Listen to this audio and you will:

Sharpen your mental focus, attention, and concentration
Enhance your thinking speed and clarity
Improve your ability to remember and recall information
Increase your mental energy and alertness
And much, much more

you can be experiencing acute concentration, accelerated cognition and amazing mental states that the most focused and zoned achievers on the planet know.

Think of the tremendous impact this could have on your life! and improving your mental efficiency could:
Help you excel in your career
Improve the quality of your life
Improve your marriage
Make you more content
Make you more confident
And much, much more!

Why Your Diet May Not Be As Rich In Iodine As You Assume

by: Steve Smith

The trace mineral iodine is well known for its crucial role in enabling the body's manufacture of vital thyroid hormones, but it is also important for the health of the immune system and for optimal brain function. It is widely believed by many authorities that iodine deficiency should never be seen in the affluent West, although this problem affects millions throughout the developed world.

Some nutritionists argue, however, that this conventional view is too optimistic, because the content of all minerals in foods is heavily dependent on the mineral content of the soil from which those foods are derived. The assumption must therefore be that the continuing de-mineralisation of farm soils has led to a reduction in the amount of dietary iodine commonly consumed.

Fish and other seafood, however, remain a relatively rich source because these ocean creatures concentrate the sea's iodine in their flesh. Though not commonly eaten in the West, seaweed, or kelp, is also an excellent source of iodine for this reason, and is readily available in the form of a dietary supplements. Dairy products and certain meats may also be a good source, particularly where iodine is routinely added to farm animal feed. But in countries, including most of Western Europe, where animals are grazing fields growing on iodine depleted soils, levels are likely to be much lower.

So even in the West, those not including fish or seafood in their diets, and not using iodised or sea salt, may be at real risk of deficiency. In an effort to compensate for low levels of dietary iodine, the mineral has been routinely added to ordinary table salt in the US for many years. But the practice is not as common in the UK and other European countries, where specially iodised or natural "sea-salt" has been marketed more as a luxury alternative. The problem of insufficient dietary iodine has been compounded on both sides of the Atlantic, however, by increasing concern about the possible adverse health consequences, particularly high blood pressure, of excessive salt intake. Many nutritionists, however, regard these fears as exaggerated, and believe that any such potential problems are far less serious than the consequences of an insufficiency of iodine, and may be easily resolved by the use of the low sodium salt alternatives available.

Iodine, however, cannot in any case be regarded as a luxury. Its essential function lies in the production of the vital thyroid hormones; thyroxine, sometimes known as T4, and tri-iodothyronine, or T3. And as is well known, these hormones are crucially important in ensuring a healthy metabolic rate and the release of energy from food; so an underactive thyroid gland is commonly the villain in cases of excessive weight gain, particularly where this of sudden onset, and in cases of difficulty in losing weight even when following a sensible reducing programme. A healthy thyroid gland is also crucial for the optimal functioning of the immune system.

But perhaps even more importantly, iodine deficiency is also known as a major cause of avoidable brain damage; a problem which the World Health Organisation has estimated to affect an astonishing 50 million people worldwide. Sadly, many of these cases occur in children whose mothers were iodine deficient in pregnancy, resulting in a condition of severely retarded brain development known as congenital hypothyroidism, or "cretinism". Even where such catastrophic consequences are avoided, iodine deficiency in childhood may also have serious effects on the developing brain, leading to low energy and motivation for learning, and measurable impairment of IQ scores.

Since 2001 the Food and Nutrition Board of the US Institute of Medicine (FNB) has prescribed a Recommended Dietary Allowance for iodine of 150 mcg for all individuals over 14, rising to 220 mcg for pregnant women and 290 mcg for those breastfeeding. Somewhat confusingly, however, an excessive consumption of iodine is also associated with a malfunctioning or enlargement of the thyroid gland, as well as mouth ulcers, headaches and gastric upsets, and the FNB therefore advises an upper safe limit for daily iodine consumption of 1,100 mcg for adults. Most people eating a conventional Western diet are unlikely to exceed this level.

With the possible exception of pregnant and breastfeeding women, people in the West who use liberal quantities of iodised salt as a regular seasoning are unlikely to need further supplements. But many commercial multi-mineral preparations contain iodine in reasonable quantities, usually in the form of potassium iodide, and whilst not perhaps strictly necessary, such supplementary doses will do no harm and may be regarded as a useful insurance policy given that, like all minerals needed by the body, iodine functions best in the presence of adequate supplies of all the others. And it should be particularly noted in this context that the effects of any deficiency of iodine may be intensified by any deficiency of selenium, iron or vitamin A.
